tyrebagger sculpture trail, kirkhill forest
‘beacon’, made from mirror finish stainless steel and stainless steel rivets, is one of several contemporary artworks specially commissioned for an area of Kirkhill Forest and the adjacent heathland, Elrick Hill, just outside Aberdeen. Sculptures were first installed in Tyrebagger Wood in 1994, as part of a pilot project initiated by public art commissions agency Art in Partnership, and Forest Enterprise. As of 2021 it remains in situ, a little bit battered but still standing strong.
